Simple Homemade Classic Pancakes
These fluffy pancakes are the perfect way to start a slow weekend morning with your favorite syrup.
There is nothing quite like the smell of fresh pancakes cooking on the stove. This recipe is a staple in my house because it uses basic pantry ingredients that you likely have on hand right now.
My best advice is to let the batter sit for a few minutes while the pan heats up. This helps the baking powder do its job and makes the pancakes extra light and fluffy.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
Instructions
- 1
Whisk the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt together in a large bowl.
- 2
Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg, and melted butter.
- 3
Mix the ingredients until they are just combined, but be careful not to overmix the batter.
- 4
Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
- 5
Pour about a quarter cup of batter onto the pan for each pancake.
- 6
Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look dry, then flip and brown the other side.
๐ก Tips
You can keep leftover pancakes in the fridge for up to three days. Just pop them in the toaster to reheat them, or freeze them with parchment paper between each one for a quick breakfast later in the week.
