There is something so special about a classic green bean casserole. It is one of those dishes that feels like home, especially when you are gathering around the table for a big holiday meal or a cozy Sunday dinner with the family.

People love this dish because it is simple to make and the crispy fried onions on top add just the right amount of crunch. If you want to make it ahead of time, simply assemble it earlier in the day and keep it in the fridge until you are ready to pop it into the oven.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans of green beans, drained
  • 1 can of condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/3 cups crispy fried onions, divided

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. 2

In a medium bowl, stir together the mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, pepper, green beans, and 2/3 cup of the crispy fried onions.

  3. 3

Pour the mixture into a 1.5 quart baking dish.

  4. 4

Bake for 25 minutes or until the mixture is bubbling hot.

  5. 5

Stir the mixture once, then sprinkle the remaining fried onions over the top.

  6. 6

Bake for another 5 minutes until the onions are golden brown and crispy.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

You can store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. To reheat, I suggest popping it in the oven for a few minutes instead of the microwave to keep the fried onions crunchy.
