Growing up in Mumbai, my school lunch was always packed in a sturdy stainless steel dabba. It is a nostalgic way to store food and ingredients, plus it keeps everything airtight and fresh without needing any plastic materials at all.

Moving toward a plastic free kitchen has been a wonderful journey for me. Using these metal containers is a simple way to bring a bit of tradition into your modern home while keeping your spices or leftovers safe and accessible.

Ingredients

  • 1 large stainless steel round container base
  • 7 small stainless steel insert cups
  • 1 stainless steel measuring spoon
  • 1 airtight stainless steel lid

Instructions

  1. 1

Wash all stainless steel containers and lids in warm soapy water before the first use.

  2. 2

Dry each piece thoroughly with a clean cloth to prevent any water spots.

  3. 3

Fill the small insert cups with your most used spices like turmeric, cumin, chili powder, and mustard seeds.

  4. 4

Place the filled cups inside the large container base.

  5. 5

Place the measuring spoon on top of the spice cups.

  6. 6

Secure the lid tightly to keep your spices fresh and protected from air and moisture.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store your spice container in a cool and dark pantry to maintain the flavor of your herbs. If you are using these for lunch boxes, you can place a small silicone ring under the lid to ensure a spill proof seal for wet foods.
