There is something so satisfying about a warm, crispy chicken wrap that is packed with fresh ingredients. These wraps are a family favorite because they are quick to put together and taste just like a classic shawarma you would find at a busy street food stand.

You can keep things simple by using your favorite store bought flatbreads or pita. If you want a little extra crunch, make sure to let the chicken get golden brown in the pan before adding it to the wrap.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast, cut into thin strips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large flour tortillas or pita bread
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup garlic yogurt sauce or hummus

Instructions

  1. 1

Combine the chicken strips in a bowl with olive oil, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well coated.

  2. 2

Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and cook the chicken for about 6 to 8 minutes until it is cooked through and crispy on the edges.

  3. 3

Warm your tortillas or pitas in the microwave or on a dry skillet for a few seconds so they are soft and easy to roll.

  4. 4

Spread a generous amount of garlic sauce or hummus down the center of each wrap.

  5. 5

Top with the crispy chicken, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and red onion.

  6. 6

Fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll it up tightly to serve.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

These wraps are best served immediately while the chicken is still hot and crispy. If you have leftovers, store the chicken and veggies separately from the wraps to keep everything from getting soggy in the fridge. You can reheat the chicken in a pan to bring back the crispiness.
